Watch above: Batman and half a dozen superheroes and pop culture characters descended on Bonnie Doon Mall today to cheer up those who need a lift. Laurel Gregory reports.

EDMONTON — A group of superheroes took the day off from fighting crime Friday to help brighten the day of some Edmontonians in need of a lift.

Batman, Superman, Spiderman and the rest of their gang spent the afternoon at Networks Activity Centre at Bonnie Doon Mall. The centre provides a supportive environment for adult survivors of stroke and brain injury.

“We want to give them community and people to talk to, and then ideally people that they can talk to about their injuries so that they’re not just bottling it up and holding it in,” said Akira Neeson with the Network Activity Centre.
